This document was drawn up by the CEN PACA agents and is one of the outcomes of the
last Port-Cros workshop (June 2013, participants: OEC for Corse du Sud, CEN Corse for la
Giraglia, CEN PACA for Marseilles Islands and the National Park of Port-Cros)
This protocol proposal is aimed at standardize the monitoring techniques for the
Mediterranean colonies of shearwaters and provide a guideline of good practice
concerning field study of this species. This document outlines the essential information
needed for such activities, and also the basic security rules having to be followed to avoid
accident on the field and to limit disturbance caused by observers.
