In 2012, the Conservatoire du littoral and the City of Six-Fours have started the implementation of the action plan for « Eradication of Hottentot Fig on Grand Rouveau island», in the framework of Mediterranean Small islands Initiative.
Zero-states for fauna and flora were realized during Spring, and a landscape photo monitoring was implemented in order to follow the evolution of vegetal populations before/after the eradication of Carpobrotus sp., and so evaluate the success of the operation on the long term.
The eradication of the invasive plant started at mid- July on the first zone defined in the action plan, and nearly 3.000 m2 of Carpobrotus were hand-pulled.
