The Marina Alta project follows the drafting of the ESZZ 16007 Management Plan for the Area of Community Interest carried out directly by PIM and the consultation and meetings for the realization of the Atlas of the Small Islands of Spain.
In order to support the effective implementation of this Management Plan and the application of the strategy proposed by the Atlas, PIM proposes to act on three different axes:
– To rehabilitate the buoy park of the Marina Alta area in order to limit their current existing impacts on the environment (Posidonia, Coralligenous…);
– Intervene on the islands of Portixol and Descubridor in order to limit or stop the presence of terrestrial invasive species, the main management issue in the area;
– To support the monitoring of the avifauna of the surrounding islands hosting heritage and protected species at the Mediterranean scale.
All of these operations will be accompanied by concerted action and awareness-raising to ensure the proper collective implementation and local acceptance of these actions.
