Initiated in 2021 by the Agence de l’eau Rhône – Méditerranée – Corse, the Conservatoire du littoral, the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, under the high patronage of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the ICO Solutions (Islands, Coasts, Oceans) approach is reflected through various activities:
- Reflection and experience-sharing workshops: in the form of themed webinars
- Training in the conservation and management of islands, coasts and oceans: the COGICO MOOC
- A platform to put companies and associations in touch with each other: Pataclet
ICO is an approach that aims to support and stimulate the definition and implementation of concrete solutions to the major challenges facing islands, coasts and oceans in terms of conservation and sustainable development.
ICO is also about combining expertise and perspectives by bringing together all the players involved in preserving ecosystems: public players, associations, experts, scientists and economic players.
ACTIONS
Webinars: sharing international experience and expertise
In 2024, as part of the ICO Solutions initiative, PIM Initiative supported the Europe and International Delegation of the Conservatoire du Littoral in organising these international webinars to share experience and expertise on various topics:
- Light pollution: 3 episodes on the issues at stake, the diagnosis process and the solutions to be found to combat the nuisance and impact on coastal biodiversity (turtles, birds, insects).
- Coastal observatories, a series co-sponsored with the RECOS project (Resilience of Coastal Zones in the Indian Ocean): 4 episodes on the construction and life phases of an observatory, focusing on the different types of existing observatories (coastal erosion and climate change, biodiversity or socio-economic issues).
The COGICO MOOC: training environmental professionals in the Conservation and Management of Islands, Coasts and Oceans!
In 2024, as part of the ICO Solutions approach, and with the technical and financial support of the Agence de l’Eau Rhône-Méditerranée-Corse and the FFEM, Initiative PIM supported the Conservatoire du littoral (DE&I) in developing COGICO training.
