A multidisciplinary team made up of agents from the Calanques National Park, experts (AGIR écologique, IMBE) and employees of PIM Initiative spent the day of Monday, March 3, surveying the island of Riou.

The objective was to adjust the naturalist monitoring protocols to be implemented in different biological compartments (seabird colonies, flora, reptiles, invertebrates, etc.), to assess the impacts of :

  • A potential future eradication of rats from the island on its ecosystem;
  • Global changes on small islands (thanks to the installation of micro-climatic stations in particular) as part of the CAIPIM project, carried out with the Conservatoire du littoral and launched at the beginning of the year, with Riou being one of the selected pilot sites!

These methodologies will be deployed in the field by agents of the Calanques National Park, initially accompanied by experts from the PIM network or external actors (design offices), according to human needs and required skills.
